Background

After Narutrix, I had a lot of challenges to try making a 'real AMV' instead of the supposedly softer path of a trailer video.. As it happened, I had already been planning one ;)

Sadly this project got set back several million times, and still has bits that could do with tweaking, but eh, I don't like keeping people waiting :P

This is easily my biggest project yet, and it's taken me nearly half a year to finally complete.. It's something I've wanted to do for a while, and I wanted to do it properly.. Oh well :p

This is an Anime Music Video set to the piratical series One Piece. No, not the hideously butchered version on domestic western television, the original dramatic in-depth action adventure series! This is my all-time favourite anime, featuring a perfect blend of slapstick, serious drama, awesome fights, and people being stabbed with pointy swords.

Sail On is a bit of a rollercoaster video, it's designed as a vague introduction to the series, and to quickly show that it's not as kiddy looking as the first few episodes would have you believe. Also for added bonus, it may help point out to people how much has been cut and altered in the western release.. It fits mostly into drama and action, but it specifically avoids spoilers and future plot points. It takes clips from all over the shop, from episode 2 to 239, and bits from 3 of the 6 movies, but shouldn't spoil anything for anyone, I'm very careful with them ;)

For this video I prepared and cut 3,598 clips from 171 separate episodes (not all in sequence), 6 movies and 2 specials. Along with the 5 openings, 15 endings, and three game openings I have lying around. There's also a few chunks of scanned manga and artbook material there too ;)

That was a clip harvesting run aimed at any future vids I may make though, fret not.. I'm not that mad. This video used approximately 120 clips, from 66 episodes and three of the movies. Plus stills and other bits ;)

This project was set back by one hard drive death, due to overheating in the summer, and I've had to recompile all the source files three times now -_-

Hope you all enjoy it, and don't wish to eat my brains too much.

Special thanks to Dythim and the K-F crew for helping me track down those elusive creditless openings, and shiny, shiny raws. You guys rock.
